4 MORE Things I've Learned After Living In a Truck Camper Full Time For 1 Month
How'd I end up here?
I have traveled extensively throughout my adult life. It all started when I got a job traveling at 18.
After being on the run for 8 years with that job I tried to settle down back home and realized it was too
late for me. There was no way I could return to that lifestyle and be happy.
4. I Need Less To Be Happy Now Than Ever
When we first started traveling full time all we traveled with were backpacks under 40 Liters. For us this was ideal because we could get cheap flights all over the world and not have to pay for a carry on. That being said, we learned to "live tiny". This doesn't apply for those looking to purchase big rigs but it applies to the 21ft and under club. Our specific camper has an exterior length of under 12 feet.
When we packed up the camper we didn't want to over pack that way we would have plenty of room for food for our longer boondocking trips. Even though we didn't over pack, we have more than we need and may decide to minimalize further. My husband is a pro and minimalism.
I would have to say the key to living tiny is one step at a time and to test the waters to see if it is worth compromising for. This life isn't for everyone. Even though I have less than I've ever had there is something freeing about that statement. I have less to worry about, less to pay for, less to care for, and I couldn't be happier!
5. RV Parks and RV People are Awesome
I feel very safe on RV sites and I think that's because everyone is nearby and will jump out of their campers if they hear someone needs help. As a woman, it puts me at ease in the evenings when it is dark out.
The People are so friendly. If you are unaware, it's common practice to wave at each other in RV Parks and a lot of people mingle with you when passing by. I really enjoy this after spending a couple months in a city where no one is friendly.
RV Parks are basically luxury for this lifestyle. The prices USUALLY include water, sewer, and electric. Even if we stayed at the most expensive place we saw for a whole month paying the daily rate we would only spend about 1,400 dollars for rent and utilities. The best part is that the RV parks sometimes include cable/ wifi, clubhouses, events, pools, etc.
6. I'll Never Be Able To See Everything But I'm Going To Try
This world is so big and I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface. The biggest reason we decided to live nomadically is because it takes time. We have the ability to spend days, weeks, or months wherever we want and we have a ton of free time.
One thing that has inspired me to travel is an ongoing health condition that I have. The thing about life is that if you don't do it now you may never do it because tomorrow is not promised to you. My dream has always been to travel and if I get enough followers I would love to do food reviews on YouTube as a career. You should probably subscribe and see where my journey leads me, who knows... maybe you'll find inspiration from it as well.
